Registration will close November 24th, 11am ET.
About the Cause
Play is essential to healthy child development and helps children remain resilient against the effects of stress and trauma. Around the world, many children do not have access to playthings that are essential for their well-being. Any play, but especially physical and educational play that promote healthy lifestyle and an interest in new topics are essential for children to thrive and develop a curiosity for the world around them.
In the Event
In this event volunteers will work to create jump ropes, bluetooth speakers and toy trucks to promote play, physical activity and learning to children and youth! Building Toy Trucks: During this event, volunteers will work with an artist to design, paint, and assemble toy cars and trucks to be donated to children in need of playthings. Volunteers can work from predesigned models or may customize the cars with their own design. Toy car and truck kits, with all needed supplies, will be distributed to volunteers prior to the event. Building Bluetooth Speakers: Volunteers will prepare a “Build-It-Yourself” Bluetooth speaker kit so students can experience engineering by building an everyday device. They will learn how circuits and technology come together to produce sound. Bluetooth Speaker kits are provided with all the needed supplies. Building Jump Ropes: Volunteers will create jump ropes to be donated to programs which support healthy lifestyles and active outdoor play for children. Jump rope kits are provided with all the needed supplies.
